Value and worth are determined by the owner. Cost is determined by the seller. I am always willing to pay a higher COST for something that I feel is of higher VALUE.

When will some people get it through their thick head that for some it's not all about what bike has the bigger motor and more power. The Raider is a great bike, I'm not downing it, but here are some things you missed.
Softail Custom: Steel fenders, stock
Raider: Plastic fenders, don't know if steel aftermarket fenders are available for this bike as a direct bolt on, probably not.
Softail Custom: Lots of chrome plated metal, stock
Raider: Not much chrome at all on the base model, and what is chrome is mostly chrome plated plastic
Softail Custom: Comes with a built in sissy bar
Raider: No sissy bar, has to be added on.
Softail Custom: Chrome laced wheel in front, and I believe a chrome disc wheel in back.
Raider: Unchromed alluminum mags.
Still think the Raider is so much better for the money?
But I love american made stuff which is why I buy Harley. We as customers take care of their asses by forking over big money on their products so why the hell can't they take care of our asses by giving us what we want the first time around.
The fact that sales are slumping and competition is stronger are two good reasons the Motor Company should improve the products. I'm talking about a 103-inch motor in all big twins. Or how about a bagger build around the V-Rod mill.
Until Harley starts attracting more younger buyers, they better take care of the faithful. You see, the competition is getting better and the faithful are starting to notice.

Agree Good for you. Lets compare Apples to Apples.
If the OP does not want to spend the money for a Harley his choice, but that is his opinion as to why he want to or not.
Harley is a Life Style not just a Bike, there are many people this is the reason why they bought a Harley.
I like the shinny stuff.
