The wrencher himself told me it wasn't done. The bike runs fine, my issue is will it run better with the download? In other words am I missing out on a freebee which I hear cost a lot if I were to pay out of pocket. In this economy I take anything offered for free that is worth taking I will gladly accept.

You could have them hook up the digital technician ( HD computer ) to your bike and it will display the current setup.

Dealer download is a total waste of money. Get a real fuel processor and a good map. Course that V-Rod is a totaly different animal, so I dunno.

This is my first HD but not my first time riding a bike...this bike unlike the crotch rocket fishtails right out of first into second and third when quick shifting I feel her kinda wanting to do a wheelie but I'm not in the high rpms to let it...

when I'm in third or fourth (where I'm at most of the time co'z I live in Guam...short trips everywhere lol except on some long roads) at about 3k rpm it kinda does a little surge every so often when I'm just cruisin is this normal? I've never felt it on the other bikes I've ridden but then again I may not have noticed they were my uncles bikes I was just happy to be able to ride...I thought it might not be co'z of the EFI...IDK...let me know...

maybe I just notice everything co'z it's MY bike now...hehe...and not a borrowed bike...

If you just changed your mufflers and are still with the stock air cleaner you'll be fine. There is no need for any remapping unless you complete the stage 1 by replacing the air box with a high flow system.

Regardless of whether it "needs it," I would be pissed if I agreed upon certain things to be done to my bike and then they weren't done and they hadn't informed me about it when I picked the bike up. It is not okay to find out 2 weeks later that work that was supposed to be done wasn't done.

Or you can change your pipes, put in a high flow system & leave the ECU stock by adding a fuel management device. I have V&H Fuelpacs in both bikes & they run great. I had the stage 1 download re-flashed back to stock on the 06 as V&H did not have a map for an 06 FXST stage 1 & it had a lot of decel pop. After going back to the stock ECU settings as suggested by V&H the bike ran perfectly.
