Spraying crap all over your bike will force you into a complete bath before you can ride it. What happens if you catch a break in the winter with a sunny day? Sit there and listen to all the others ride by? Complete bath for one ride then respray?
I'd look for a better storage option where I can keep the condensation off the bike.

My brother did the WD-40 thing once. The dust caked up in every nook and cranny on the bike. Was a mess to clean up.
It is a good idea to clean the bike before storage, pledge works good and will repel some dust. Nothing wrong with spending a few hours or days cleaning the bike while it is in storage either.
Nope not worth it! After a lot of trial and error, the best thing is: service them, clean them, polish them, battery tend them, cover them, forget them,if you can.Unless you just like fussing with them, that's Okay too. After all it is your pride and joy!!
