Default hells angel sonny barger dosent like harleys.

i just read sonnys book "hells angles" and came across this paragraph on page 53

"it has always been important for hells angles to ride american made machines. in terms of pure workmanship, personally i dont like harleys. i ride them cause i am in the club and and that is the image, but if i could, i would seriously consider riding a HONDA ST1100 or a bmw. we really missed the boat not switching over to the japanese models when they began building bigger bikes. ill usually say "**** harley davidson". you can buy an ST1100 and the mother****er will do 110 mph right from the factory all day long. while it is too late to switch over now, it would have been a nice move cause japenese bikes today are much cheaper and better built, however they dont have as much personaility.

could you imagine the hells angles all riding around on honda ST'S??????

And written over 9 years ago, referring to bikes generally made 30+ years ago.

OK. What would you call a guy that doesn't like Harley's but rides them anyway because that what peer pressure dictated?

I wonder if his disdain for Harley stems more from the fact that Harley refused to provide bikes for the Hell's Angels, free of charge, than anything quality related?

No, it's probably from having to work on them 3 hours in order to get 2 hours worth of riding out of them back then.

If anyone in the Phoenix/Cave Creek area would like to check out his current ride, maybe have a chance to ask him about his views on Harley's and Metrics, or whatever, they are having a 71st Birthday Poker Run and Party on October 4th...

Poker Run starts at the Steel Horse Saloon in Phoenix, and ends with a Birthday Party at the Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek...
