After reading all this.. first, my take is, hey, he can ride what he wants. same as me.. so to each his own... it's also my choice as whether or not I'd ride next to him.. seems easy enough to me..
what I found, interesting.. is how in the frenzy to defend this guy's apes.. whoever is was.. started bashing ultra riders.. dude.. chill out. sounds just a little hypocritical to me to stick up for the apes and then turn around and bash ultra's.. isn't that doing the same thing your complaining about? ... it would seem to me the same logic should apply.. ride what you want and be happy.. and yep, I ride an ultra and no, I'm not a newbie..

Put me into the "live and let be" camp. Funny thing is, I bet he rides that bike more than most of the haters here.
I see his bike as an equivalent to the Oscar Myer Wiener Mobile!!! It looks crazy (nice way of saying dumb) and builds morale while giving you a laugh. No reason to get mad because he didn't build the bike that you want.
Yup.. I am in Missouri , I have seen this guy around at different runs and rallies. First time I met him he was on his way home from Sturgis...yup , he rode the bike up there and back. Got a ticket while he was there.
He rides it to the rallies and runs. I've talked him and he doesn't seem all that bad... just a guy that wanted a different bike than every one else , kind of like old school on steroids.
He has been riding that bike for quite awhile now, and hasn't wrecked yet.. Which is better than I can say for a lot of others.
I just bought some 14" apes for my StreetBob. I mocked em up yesterday.. If I had known how comfortable they were ,, I'd have put em on the first week.
His apes are a little much and don't look comfortable to me.. I could be wrong though I haven't rode that bike.
