On a divided highway once a long time ago someones chrome hubcap flew over the median and the fence from the oncoming side just about three feet in front of my face, a split second later and My head would have been off. I was behind a state highway dept. dump truck once,They had it loaded over the top with sand and gravel,There was NO cover on the load And they went over some deep potholes and potato sized rocks dropped over the edge i was far enough back so i could dodge them but the car behind me wasnt so lucky,She got 3 or 4 huge rocks in the windshield and some cuts,BUT had she not been yakkin' on her cel phone she would have been aware of the idiots in the dumptruck and seen the rocks falling or hung back just in case rocks did fall out.I called the D.O.T. but she said, 'oh we always get calls about that sort of thing' asked her if she thought maybe that loads not being covered can be dangerous..she said 'But i dont ride motorcycles'??? i hope she not the one who writes safety requirements for state vehicles
