You must be a new tire salesman because that statement really make little sense. Take all the retread in the world and throw them in the ocean and there will still be chunks of tires lining the freeway. Most tire failures are caused by underinflation and/or overloading.

Almost every single chunk of tire you see on the roads is from a recap truck tire. Period. And I don't sell tires.

I keep my distance from pickup trucks loaded with loose debris, any type of trailer (including bike trailers) - pretty much anything that could ruin my day. Unfortunately, sometimes it's unavoidable.

Are you using you own anecdotal evidence, or just talking out your rear-end? I hate to inform you, bud, but that is just not the case. That would kinda be akin to someone saying all Harley riders are ***, on the grounds that they do not like bikers and there are bound to be some *** riders out there.

Default Safe Distance

I was out riding with my son the other night ( he's 16 and rides a 1981 Shovelhead ) Lucky sh*t... anyway there was a pickup truck ahead of us carrying a huge load of split rail cedar fence, no tie downs, just floating out past his tailgate, the pieces were shaking about as he drove down the road, so I signaled my son to slow down a put some distance between us and the truck. As we watched the truck go over the bumps in the road, the load was shifting further back, we turned at the next intersection. Nothing happened, but as I was reading this thread, it reminds me that you really have to look out for your own safety, "watch out for the other guy"

Not ALL Harley riders are *** but don't lose hope....you'll meet someone someday.

Whatever would we do without The Architect's consistent stream of fair and balanced commentary to keep us in line?

He is one entertaining dude (or dudette as it may be, I don't know).
