I didn't get reply to my tag-on question from my other post, so I like to ask separately and hope to get some more understanding how H-D prices the bike?
Along the line of choosing a Bike, why softail is more expensive than Dyna. They both have same size of engine. Is it because Softail has more chrome and more mods on the stock version?
In other words, what am I paying more for?

There's a certain level of increased complexity to the Softail engine, and perhaps the chassis is harder or more expensive to produce, but the cost of manufacturing is only one aspect of price. In reality, the price is set by the customer: what the customer is willing to pay is where the price is set. Harley, like any profit seeking company, will try to set its price so the number of customers that will pay that price is equal to it's ability to produce.

Though the engine is the same size, it is not the same engine. The softail engine is rigid mounted hence has a counter balanced motor to reduce shaking. The frame is desinged to hide the rear suspension. Most softails have more eye candy on them than dynas as well.
