There were a lot of people out for a weekday, and I almost got nailed by a Jeep Cherokee coming the other way who was over the double yellow a bit. Pucker factor right there.
Let me rephrase my question: I have a stock Electa Glide classic. Can I put the chrome ones on, or am I restricted to black only. I like chrome but the website seems to say (If I'm reading it correctly) that I need to go with the black.

The spacers for the baggers are different than the ones for the softails. The softail spacers attach between the boards and the brackets. The touring spacers attach between the floorboard brackets and the frame.
I have the same set on my 02 WG, well I should say I only put them on when I'm going on a very long trip, I have a hard time getting use to the look of them although they sure make long rides comfortable, in and around town I prefer my forward controls.
I took a 200 mile ride yesterday and thought I would post a second follow up. The HG brackets have made such a difference in comfort on my bike that I am still amazed. There much more range for my feet and I did not have an opportunity to get uncomfortable at all.
I did a fair amount of twisties, along with some freeway cruising. I must say that this simple mod still has me in awe as to why the moco does not put these on the bikes stock. I used to almost feel bow legged when I got off the bike after a long period of time, but no more. I now have the option of extending my legs so they are completely straight and resting my toes on the highway pegs, or having a bend in them and resting the toes on the highway pegs. When I do not use the highway pegs I can put feet in multiple different postions to eliminate the possibility of any sort of cramping of the legs.
Another friend of mine also got these and seemed quite happy with the results. I used to think these were only for people who were extremely tall, however neither of us are over 6' and we both still felt immeasurable difference from the HG brackets.
I'll be ordering for another friend who is over 6' today and we will see how they work for him. More to come in the near future.
Last but not least I was still concerned about cornering clearances with the loss of a tad of clearance. I scraped exactly twice again yesterday as I was flying down a canyon of high speed sweepers at a speed that would be deemed unsafe by msot people here. Every once in a while I need to open it up jsut for fun. So do not let this be your deciding factor as I have found ti to minal and am sure I would ahve scraped with boards in the stock position as well.
