Have you tried any of the different pad compounds that are offered by sbs, or ebc? You can go Kevlar, organic, or sintered.

Matching you pads to your rotor hardness is also a good idea.

I run the fredos on mine and they are a big improvement over the stock pads, with th HD floating rotors made by suntour.

As far as upgrades on the calipers top of the line is PM differential bore 4 pistons, look good and stop better, but they are pricey.

On of our salesmen here is running Hawg Halters and he is very happy with them. They run about 150 t0 175 less than the pm's.

I'm running PM calipers and have to say they are a lot better than stock. They are pricey at $500-$550 each but worth it. As for pads I use lyndall gold plus, IMHO probably some of the best brake pads out there.

Lyndall carbon Kevlar works great on the factory rotors with the factory calipers.

And how many miles can you get to these pads?

If you are in California I would take the time to go to the Cycle Swapmeet in Long Beach at veterans stadium. The next one is the 22nd. There are usually a few sets of Performance Mahine calipers, both new and used.

New are ususally heavilly discounted. Get there at 6AM for the good deals as people come from all over and leave with wagons full of stuff.

Had them on my 2000 softail and loved them!!!!

I'll probably get shot down but I just installed DP sintered on the rear of my touring & softail.

I tried EBC organic for a few weeks, the dust was unacceptable.

Hope the DP's don't start squealing.

I had Ferodos but hated them. Noisy, dusty, non-linear. Have polished stock rotors and goodridge stainless braided lines with stock calipers and stock master cylinder. Switched to the Lyndall Z pads, these brakes are awesome. The bike hauls down in a hurry, even fully loaded, lever feel is solid and linear, brakes are quiet and clean. Don't need expensive aftermarket rotors or calipers. Stock brakes with stainless braided lines and Lyndall pads kick ***.

I change my pads about every 8-10k miles, I could probably get more out of them but I'm in the habit of starting each year with new pads.
