I use to collect dealer "Dip Dots" - then the dealers started to sell poker chips and stopped the Dip Dots-even though I just bought a Dip Dot on my Rolling Thunder trip 2 weeks ago (it's rare to find then anymore). Now I collect chips too. I only have chips that I actually ride to that dealer, just like t-shirts. I won't wear a t-shirt if I haven't been there or done the ride.
I have 110 chips now and 46 Dip Dots.
Each dealer charges a different price. Anywhere from $1 to as high as $3.50, average is about $1.99. I do travel a lot each year- about 10 to 12K miles each year. It'd be more if I didn't have to work 40 hours a week. I'm 72 now and hopefully in a few years I'll be retired and have more time.

It helps if you do the Harley ABC's of Touring contest. I do that every year also. Some neat prizes for doing that.

Thanks for the tip about the Juneau office vending machine. Don't know if I'll ever get there during the week when they're open - usually only the weekends I'm up there.

Personally I'm not a collector but since the GF is, I pick her up some when I travel...

I should have collected the chips too. My wife's in Japan right now and she's getting some from the HD dealership in Tokyo.

I need more beer
We did a seminar over at Kegel and the owner was explaining to me that they were a motorcycle dealer before they became an official Harley dealer and somehow that gave them claim to the oldest. If I remember right it still said Kegel Motorcycle company on their building.Yea still family owned.

Neidengard Harley is the other dealer he was referring to. They claim the "Oldest Family Owned Harley Dealer in Ohio".

I have a few poker chips. Most of them are from friends when they travel. I never understood why people want a shirt or chip from someplace that they haven't been. I have one from Black Bear Harley. They gave it to me after I dropped my bike at the bottom of their driveway. 2nd day into my trip. I stopped on the way back, day 5, and the lady who worked there remembered seeing me.
