Wheel sizes

I'm having my 1993 Ultra repainted and I would like to upgrade my wheels at the same time. I think I'm going to go spoke on front and solid on back. My question is can I remove one brake rotor on the front so to show new front wheel better as on a Road King or softail. Too, I think I have 16" x 3". Will all FLTH 1993 fit this bike or are they different? Any suggestions or pics will be helpful. (Going solid on rear for easy cleaning.) Trying to educate myself. Thanks,

If you remove one disc you will reduce your braking power! But you could restore it in part by fitting improved brake components such as a larger diameter disc, multi-pot calliper. I went over the top with my FLHS and have twin 13 inch discs and 6-pot callipers. Can hardly see the wheel....

As for wheels I know two chaps who have fitted Fatboy solid rear wheels to their RKs. I believe there is a high degree of inter-changeability between wheels, from around 1984 on. In 2002 Harley went to 1 inch bearings on the touring range and in 08 changed to 25mm, but I understand these wheels can all be fitted with either 3/4", 1" or 25mm bearings, by buying the correct size. So the options are many.

I am about to fit a 2007 swingarm to my 1990 FLHS, with later cast wheel and 1" bearings, as an upgrade you might like to consider. There are several articles about this mod, but Motorcycle Metal gives a summary. Howard of MM gives full installation instructions if you cruise his website.

While I was talking with JPcycles the tech said I need to be sure to get a single disk hub. WEll, this conversation was after I purchased f and r 10 spoke chrome for the bike. I assume the front is a dual. I have not received them yet. I'm not familiar with the terms but is there a way to make a dual hub a single, since I have already purchased a dual. .. Or will a dual work with a single rotor on one side and still look good?

Any help appreciated.

I guess the wheel will work OK. You may be able to get a custom part to tidy up the side you leave bare, perhaps like those chrome covers drum brake Glides had? There is bound to be something out there, perhaps off some of the Heritage models like softtails.

Thanks. It just that I hate to pay for custom wheels and not see them. If i stay dual, how small a rotor can I use. That will also allow more wheel to be seen I think.
