This may be splitting hairs, but I proved to myself that it was true. From what I read, 5 is more compressible than 4 or 3 and could result in a softer feel. HD has vacillated between 4 and 5 in it's hydraulic clutches and I flushed a 5 filled clutch and installed 4. It made a noticeable difference in the clutch lift. Might not matter a twit in brake applications, but I could not get the proper 65/1000 lift with the 5, but the 4 worked fine.
Bear in mind my experience! I suggest you strip the entire hydraulics and clean out thoroughly, then rebuild using DOT4. Flushing does not remove all traces of DOT5. Just add up the replacement cost of the master and slave cylinders....
