Pls help me out here guys. (I'm writing on behalf of my buddy who is planning to buy a VROD)
I ride a 2009 FXDC and I'm very very happy with it.:icon_dance-cpatch:

My buddy has decided to buy a used VROD anywhere from 2006-2008.

All the VROD owners here, can you please tell me what are the difference between the years (06,07,08) and the model variation and which one is a better option to buy...

I'll convey this to him

Have an option to purchase this beauty with only 2100 miles on it and excellent appearance. My question is whether there is any known problem with this model. I've been told tire is 180 vs. newer models with 240's, tank is smaller, grips (already upgraded) were substandard allowing vibration to be transferred. Also that engine is higher compression, but not sure that's a bad thing. Appreciate your input.

My brother-in-law is 50 years old, 5'8", and has some back issues. Last year he purchased a 2005 VRSC-B and experiences some discomfort because of the reach to the bars. He would like to sit more upright.

I found a set of reduced reach bars offered by Harley. The part # is 56533-02. Here is a item description for Surdyke:

V-ROD REDUCED REACH HANDLEBARS
This 2" pull-back handlebar positions the rider in an upright seating posture for long-ride comfort. When combined with the Forward Position Seat P/N 52024-01 and the Reduced Reach Foot Control Kit P/N 50270-02, the V-Rod can be tailored to fit the shorter rider’s physical size. Kit includes one-piece handlebar and stainless steel brake line assembly. Fits ’02-later VRSCA models.

Neither one of us is familiar with the differences in the V-Rod models. It says above these bars will fit the 02 and later VRSCA models.

Will they work on his 05 VRSC-B?

If not, does he have other options? Most interested in options which will not require wire extensions or complete cable and line changes.

Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We looked at HD, Windvest and Rifle windshields for my wife's V-Rod and thought the Rifle windshield was the best combination of 1) protection, 2) styling, 3) adjustibility and 4) cost. We mounted it today and went out onto the highway to test it out at speeds around 75-80 mph where she has always struggeled with the wind - she's only 5' 2" and has trouble fighting that much wind.

Happy to report it got rave reviews from the wife. :icon_dance-cpatch:

Here are some photos of it mounted to the bike and the innovative mounting system. Nice fit and finish IMHO.

I'm finally gonna get my first Harley! I've fallen in love with the V rod only to find out the very one I want to buy, (used 06 VRSCR) is the tallest saddle in the bunch. Me? I'm the shortest in the bunch. Have Gold wing and looking for around town cruiser and this is the bike. How much does it take to lower this thing? Almost bought it yesterday but blinked when I found out it has a 31" tall saddle. Called local Harly dealer (Woodlands Tx) and they pretty much scratched their head? Soo how do I do it? I love the middle controls or I would have moved on to the forward, more readily available A C D E or what ever these VRSC nominclatures mean!
thanks in advance for any help, chuck

I asked the sales guy and he said of course you can change the bars (I knew that) but you can only move the foot controls back 1 inch.I heard from someone you can go back 7 inches. Any one know if there is some truth to that. She would really like to get one if she could fit one.
She is 5 foot 2 inches and 102 lbs. She can ride and has no fear of what the bike can do.Thanks ahead for any input.
