2000 deuce, riding along engine fails. restarts and runs for about 5 seconds and stops again.
cleaned the carby bowl, checked the fuel is getting to the bowl all good.
It`s like a circuit breaker is tripping out. the bike starts then stops for say 20 seconds then it will restart. It must be electrical but where abouts, could it be the coil? trailered the bike home, next morning went to check the 1 and only circuit breaker but the engine is running fine now. I need to find the cause as it may happen again when i`m on a big trip or somewhere far away. Any thoughts would be helpfull.
Thakyou

Okay... I admit it... I made a U-turn in the middle of the road, and pulled the clutch in too much. Needless to say, I dumped the bike. Picked it up, and pushed it off the side of the road. Tried to restart it, and it would run for a second, and the the display would say "TIP" and then shut off. I tried to restart it a couple of times with the same results.

Luckily I was only a couple of blocks from the house, so I pushed it home.

Now what?

Hey all. Long time browser, but never thought to sign up till now. I've been having a weird issue...

Hey all. Long time browser, but never thought to sign up till now. I've been having a weird issue with my lights on my 98 FLSTS shutting off and on. I never really noticed it, because I usually ride only in the day. Then I saw a pic of me riding in the day and my lights were off. I found that odd, and asked my buddies to look for it. Only seemed to happen after about an hour of riding, and all my lights front and back would shut off for about 10 seconds then fire back up. It would happen randomly ... maybe 15 minutes it would go off, then 30 minutes go off again. I rode home from San Diego in the dark about 6 months ago and it took me 2 hours ... the lights shut off 3 times for about 10 seconds each time. Well, it has started to happen all the time now ... and it's happening after only riding for about 15 minutes, and stay off for sometimes a minute before coming back on. Taking my seat off and touching the headlamp fuse, it's hotter than a firecracker, so something somewhere is giving off extra heat and overloading the circuit causing the fuse to switch off until it cools down. My first thought was I have kuraykn led turn signals front and back as well as their tombstone led, which is all controlled by the run-turn-brake controller with a load equalizer. I thought maybe the load equalizer to make the turn signals and everything else work was overloading the system, so after talking with them, they told me to reverse 2 wires, but all that did was screw up the turn signals and brake lights from working properly. I put the wires back to stock and the damn thing won't work now at all, but I did notice that when the lights did shut off while riding in the dark, that my turn signals would work if I used them. Even taking the kuryakyn controller module out didn't help things ... the lights would still shut off and then come back on. I finally got exasperated one night riding home and them going out every couple of minutes, so I turned off my riding lamps. Bingo .. they didn't go out for 30 minutes, and tonight I rode home in the dark with just the headlamp for 45 minutes with no problem. I was thinking maybe I have a short before, but now after a little investigation I think we have it narrowed down to the riding lamp bulbs. I have aftermarket riding lamp housings in there with piaa h3 halogen bulbs. They say on the package they are 12v 55w, but what are the stock HD riding lamp bulbs output wise? I called 2 HD dealerships and they said they don't know ... Im like thanks guys, thats real helpful. One guy did seem to think that the stock HD riding lamps were 12v 35w but wasn't sure and had no info to back it up. Stock riding lamp housings are self contained ( meaning you can't replace the bulbs which I remember, so I replaced the housings so I could change out the ugly stock bulbs ). In looking at the PIAA website tonight, I noticed that the bulbs say 12v 55w-110w. 55w-110w? Does that mean it gives off 110w of brightness, but only draws 55w, or has the capability of drawing 110w? I have no idea what that means, but if they are producing twice the heat, that might be the problem to my circuit heating up and shutting off. Do any of you guys run PIAA bulbs in your bike, and have you ever noticed an issue? Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be as informative as possible. Also, would my battery power affect this? My buddy seemed to think that a weaker battery over time might be the reason why my lights are shutting off more frequently. I'm clueless to electrical issues so any thoughts/comments gladly welcomed. Thanks guys

Okay, so let's say I did a great (or good) in getting the scoot tuned and the VE Tables are properly set-up with VTuner.

How much more would I gain with a dyno in both parameters adjustment and performance? Is close enough GOOD ENOUGH?

Reason why I';m asking is I talked to a reputable tuner about the Tailgunner exhaust system, since I have read alot about them, and seems to be a very good in quality, sound, and performance. I then asked about if he would have a problem tuning with TTS. His first reaction was yeah VTuner is just okay, and still need to dyno. Plus, he asked why do you want to spend all that money on a tuner when you could just go with Direct Link, with a one time fee. I guess he has a point, I feel at least I own the software and can tune the bike myself with TTS, whereas, Direct Link, you really need a qualified tuner with the correct hardware to tune the bike.

I guess the bottom line is do I need to go the extra yard with a dyno and be happy with VTuner getting me well within the ballpark and happy?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated...
