What is a good replacement for the stock clutch kit?

I run a 96" with SE255 cams.

two-up about half of the time, and I plan to pull a trailer.

I can get the HD kit for about $140 + shipping
Screamin' EagleŽ Performance Clutch Kit
it includes the heavier spring.

or I can get the Barnett carbon fiber kit with extra plate for about $156, but would have to buy the spring separately, thats another 23 bucks..so now we're at about 180 +shipping.

Is the Barnett that much better?

Other suggestions?
Thanks

Whether I'm at a stop or rolling to one at low speeds, my 88" does not like to go into first gear. I did a cable adjustment and made sure I had approx 1/8" or so in play, lubed the cable, and cleaned out the clutch perch and lever to no avail. I have no problems going through the gears up or down; it's always first gear. The fluid level in the tranny is spot on too. Thoughts?

Hey all...

I have an 06 Street Glide with 45,000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that when I down shift to first gear, the gears grind as if there are synroniziers that are not alining. All other shifiting is fine (up or down).

I have adjusted both the clutch and the cable, as well as changed all fluids and that did not make any improvements at all and the problem is still there.

Other than the above, do any of you have any ideas of what else I can check before taking it to the shop? This just started happening about 2 weeks ago so this is a pretty new problem.

I keep the bike spotless and do take excellent care of it so dirt in the wrong places is not the answer. I have serviced it every 5000 miles without fail.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I sure hate to have to pay for work that I might be able to do myself.

Thanks so much for replying!
When I'm stopped at a light or stop sign, I have to play with the clutch in & out some to be able to down shift from 5-6 all the way to 1st. As long as I'm still rolling it will down shift OK. Clutch seems OK. My warranty expires this Sunday. Do you think it's just an adj. or something bigger.

Hey everyone, like the title says I'm pretty new to motorcycles and the mechanics of them. I am not, however, foreign to mechanics in general. I've rebuilt car engines and other such projects. Now that the intro is done, on to the question. I purchased a BDL 3in open belt primary for my 2006 NT and need to know how difficult it would be to install it myself. I've seen a project build in "American Iron" magazine and it didn't seem all that complicated. Any advise on the difficulty level of this upgrade would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For my 2004 RK, the manual shows a tranny drain plug on the right side of the engine oil pan. It also shows a tranny drain plug just below the clutch cover. Are there really two drains for the tranny fluid? Why 2?

The manual also says to remove the clutch cover and add tranny fluid through the opening 'till the bottom of the clutch is wet. At the same time, there is a tranny fluid dipstick to indicate proper fluid level on the other side at the clutch release cover.

With all due respect to the manual, why not just drain the tranny flud from the plug under the clutch cover, and fill through the dipstick hole 'till the level is correct per the dip stick (bike level). Anything wrong with this approach to changing the tranny fluid?

Advice/comments much appreciated,
