His name was Ben and he was 25. Ben had distonia (sp), it's a condition that kept his muscles tensed up ALL the time (think human pretzel) and affected his speach. He was getting an operation to have a steel rod fused to his spind and the bleeding got out of control. His mom spent the last 20 yrs caring for him every day by herself. During the day he was cared for by an aide so tracy could go to work (we work at the same place).

I once lived across the street from them and Tracy helped me get through a tough time after my divorce. We dated for a while and I'd always go hang w/ Ben, tel him dirty jokes and flip through my biker mags w/ him. We'd tell his mom that she had to leave so we could have some "guy" time. He tought me all about football and I tought him all about racing.

I used to try to get him to wear a yellow long sleeve shirt for holloween so he could be a cheese covered pretzel. :icon_laugh: He ALWAYS got a kick out of that and ALWAYS had a smile on his face. He nor Tracy ever complained about anything. That tought me that MY problems were NOTHING. I'd still go over once I moved so me and Ben could hang out. Tracy said I was the only person who theated him like there was nothing wrong w/ him. He was unique but there was nothing wrong w/ him (in my eyes) and, that's exactly how he wanted to be treated.

He tought me a lot and he'll be missed. Godspeed Ben, don't stop runing!

Didn't mean to ramble, just wanted to share this special man.

There seem to be quite a few guitar folks on this forum, so I'd thought I'd share some of my favs for y'all to check out.
I lean towards the clean players without all those screeches and effects, and as as I grew up in the 50's, still have a softspot for the Fenders and Strats. I got into jazz in about '57 so my prefs are for the jazz players, and I listen to lots of others.

In the late '80's I worked for a wholesale co. delivering stuff to retailers. As a consequence of this I knew a lot of people up and down the front range. One sat. a bunch of them decided to have a get together in the mountains and I was invited.

It was going to be at a place called O,Fallen Park just above Morrison. (The Colo. guys will know this place). It is a picnic area just off the main road. The road leading in is a horseshoe that follows the creek. Only one way out.

Sat. came so I rode the bike up there and several of my customers were already there, drinking beer and talking. They even had a volleyball net set up.

After awhile a bunch of kids started showing up. Then more & more. There must have been 300 or so kids there all drinking and milling about. The place was packed. Someone even set up a stereo system. Pretty cool.

The next thing I know there is a line of cop cars coming in. I thought, oh sh!t! I've had too much to drink to be riding now. I walked over to the bike and sat up against a tree and pretended to be asleep.

I opened my eyes once and saw at my feet a cop with a Rotweiler standing there. I closed my eyes and this time really did fall asleep.

When I woke up the place was empty, it was dark and I was very glad the cops had not woke me up. (Awakened me)? Strange feeling.

After coming to a bit and smoking a cigarette I climbed on the bike and rode home.

I know you guys have some good party stories. Let's hear'em. :icon_beerchug:

need some help from the north carolina people and people who have relocated for work

Ok anyone work at the Continental Automotive Systems in fletcher north carolina by Ashville if so what is your take on the company in the current economy and overall PM me if you would like.

Also what is that area like in the winter temps and climate on average.
what is the area like for home cost and cost of living around that area.

Any other information would be helpful as iam looking at that area right now as a recruiter contacted me about a job.

I really want to move south but my biggest concern is i have family of 6 and my job iam at is pretty secure right now id hate to go to a company and get laid off in cpl months especially if i moved out of state to get there.

What are all you guys that have relocated from a secure job to a new city thought before doing it and how did it turn out.

What's the deal? Anyone done this? I need tires for my Suburban. I have heard that you are required to get alignment and warrenty which adds up to more than the value of the 2 free tires. I need an alignment anyway.

Rain gear recomendations

We are going to be purchasing rain gear in the next month or so, not for year round touring, just one long ride to Sturgis, aside from that I avoid rain like I am gonna melt, so while I want good protection, I don't need the "lasts forever" quality (just don't want it to fall apart when I do need it).

Any recomendations?

To everyone that thought the sentence for Billy Lane was light and unjust, here is a ex-Baseketball star that was DRUNK at a party at his home swinging a loaded shotgun around that discharged and killed his limo driver. Then intially tried to cover up the incident before police arrived.

I mean sh*t swinging a loaded shotgun around using it as a pointer???

I was one of the unfortunates that the military wouldn't take (birth defect in my back). Now I always wanted to join and be a lifer ..retiring out in my early 40's. Like my Dad and most of my Uncles did.

Here is the important question. I was peeling potatoes today and using a potato peeler, when this thought crossed my mind.

When on KP duty, do you get to use a potato peeler or .. Do you just use a knife? See I peeled 3 potatoes to Loretta's one potato. She was using a knife. I was using a potato peeler. What is the military take on this.. Do they let you use a potato peeler ?

Quite a few for me I guess, but one of the craziest was on my way to a job in La. we pulled over right on the shoulder of the freeway in my old 85 Team Camaro, the year was 1987, it was late at night on a stretch of I-59 from Tuscaloosa Al. to Meridian Miss.,, not one car came by the whole time,,, if it was nowadays we'd been put in jail for it had we been caught, but it sure was fun, wild and crazy back then, I sure miss the good old days!!!!
