Well, I was hoping that I would be able to stay off the list of people that have been in a wreck but it happened today.
I was on my way home this afternoon after a nice 200 mile ride and was stopped at a stoplight about 3 blocks from home.
I looked back and saw a pickup getting a little to close and then wham, he bumped me. Luckily he wasn't going very fast and he hit me square so I stayed upright.
He said that he thought there was a car in front of him and looked down and that's when he hit me. Luckily he didn't try to run away and took full responsibility when the police office showed up.
I'm fine, just a little shook up, I rode the bike the rest of the way home after I got his information and the police report number.
There was alot less damage than I expected when I got off the bike, His license plate hit my taillight, broke it and dented in the fender. Didn't hit the pipes or bags on the street glide.
I've been trying to think of what I could do to prevent something like this and will make sure I pay more attention to what's going on behind me and have an escape route if possible. It could have been alot worse if he was going faster.

Some "snack-crackle-pop is now noticable on deceleration but nothing that sounds like back-firing. My gut is it's totally normal, that the sounds were just not audible with the SE inserts I replaced. Sound right to you? or does anyone think there's a tuning issue or other issue based on a little snap-crackle-pop with decleration? Dealer told me no new download was needed since bike was recently turned for Stage 1 with SE slip-ons. Sounds great and right to me, but I'm no expert.

I have done a bunch of work on the HD motor, heads, cam, pistons etc. However my stock BMW K1200GT will run circles around the softtail. I just came back from the NHRA National Finals in Pamona CA where S&S Motors dominated Super Stock class. In fact, the only Harley motor was the Vance & Hines HD. While I realize that these were the 160 inch, 300+hp racing motors, it still said a lot about S&S. Well, I am lined up to put the new 124 inch S&S motor in my softtail in Jan. Am I crazy? Everyone I talk to says that S&S is the best after market motor out there. Anyone care to comment, especially someone who has had any experience with this motor. Proposal would name official Wisconsin motorcycle

MADISON (AP) — Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson would become the official Wisconsin motorcycle under a bill proposed in the Legislature.

Milwaukee Democratic Rep. Leon Young says the idea came from a family member of Sgt. Jeremy Vrooman, who was killed last year while serving in Iraq. Young argues in a letter to his colleagues that the long and storied history of Harley-Davidson in Wisconsin makes it appropriate to honor it with the distinction of being the official state motorcycle.

William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson built the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle in 1903 in Milwaukee. The company was incorporated four years later and remains based in Milwaukee.
