I've never measured the backlash, but from turning both HD 5-speeds and Ultima 6-speeds ther is no noticeable difference. What are you running for fluid??

I was running Mobil 1. Just put Spectre syn in 700 mile ago. It isn't all back lash. Feels rough but you can also feel the gears. I might put the 5 speed back in until I can tear the Ultima down.
The Ultima 6 speed I was running had something come loose and got into the gears. I've only pulled the top but can see two gears that have damage. Anyone else had any problems with their tranny's?
The splines on the output are too worn on the five speed. The pulley came loose and that's why the 6 speed went in. I didn't realize how bad they of shape they were in until I went to put a new sprocket on. I picked up a new tranny today and I'll work on it Friday. Didn't have any luck talking to John about the old one since it's over two years old and has 27,000 miles. I'll try getting ahold of someone at Midwest. Don't really expect them to do anything but some parts would be nice so I can fix the old one. I hope to build the wife a bike so I'll use it on that.
Hi, guys. Been awhile since I posted so I thought I'd give an update. I've got about a 1000 miles on the new 113. I put the new Ultima 6 speed in. Dropped the tranny sprocket down to a 22 with a 51 in back. That gives me a 3.57 overall. Bike really accelerates nice with that gearing. The overdrive makes it liveable on the highway.
I replaced the Thunderheader with a Supertrapp Super Meg. The pipe fits great and looks good. I ran in with the supplied 20 disks and the closed end cap. Ran good down low but even my wife complained that it was to quiet. I didn't really have problem with it being quieter but for some reason my wife decided that since it was quieter and I could hear her that she needed to break the peace and quiet and start talking to me as we ride. Needless to say that lasted for a couple rides before I pulled all of the plates and the end cap off the muffler. Lost the tuneability at this point but I'm back to enjoying the rides more!
I was kinda joking about the sound level. I would like the bike to be a little louder but I haven't had a chance to order an open end cap. Might try cutting the closed cap and tune from there.
I pulled the carb apart and found a 25 in the pilot jet. Ultima manual recommends a 27.5. I installed a 30 since I'm running the Supertrapp without any plates or cap. I went one size richer on the metering rod and up to a 180 on the main. The pilot jet and meter rod made a significant difference in performance and cooled the cyclinder heads down. I'm still babying it so I'm not sure about the main jet.
What are you running in the tranny for fluid?, we reccomend Royal purple in the tranny and Castrol type Vi (it's synthetic) in the primary and they shift like butter!! Did Ultima do anythig for you?? Glad to hear all is well now

Right now I'm running Quaker State synthetic gear in the tranny. I planned on changing it after a couple of hundred miles. I'll give Royal Purple a try. The primary has B&M Trick Shift right now. Shifts good, a little noisey. Neutral is easy to find. I didn't talk to Midwest after I talked to John at Jireh. The tranny was out of warranty and I'm just glad it didn't lock up and cause me to go down.
