Blip the throttle while in first and pull up on the shifter and setting still, it will fall into neutral. Just found out about this trick after fighting neutral for a couple of years.

Tried that over the weekend and it does work great.

My 87 has most always been good to go into neutral (from 1st only) so I never thought about a trick for the times it was in a slight bind and wouldn't. Makes sense that reving then backing off "blipping" as you say, would cause a zero drag at the point of up-down of rpms.

Tried the 1997bagger trick, YEP, works great! Learn something everyday....

Default neutral

Red Line in the tranny helped a bit. Will try the throttle blip next ride.
