juaniosa,
It sounds like your bike is wet-sumping. Clean up or reseat and replace your check ball.
Not sure about the starter noise you are describing. A whining noise could be an alignment problem in the starter drive assembly anywhere from the starter motor to the clutch shell or maybe needs lube in the reduction gear housing for the gears. If it is not cranking the engine but the starter motor is running, it could be the starter gear (bendix drive) has failed.
That is not entirely true! There are three electronic modules on my 1990 bike, the ignition system, alternator regulator, and indicators. In fact Harley was one of the first bike makers to adopt an electronic regulator.
Yeh I just ment no Fuel injection no check engine light to deal with.
I have a 96 EVO powered Ultra Classic EFI with 36K miles on her and she is fun to ride. Always starts and runs smooth. I just love the way she thumps when I hit the throttle at the lower rpms.
Did a 3700 mile trip to Sturgis in 08 and I'm planning a 4000 mile trip this summer across Canada to NS and back to Tenn.
