Default New 120ST Crate Motor

New crate motor from HD; comes with T/B and injectors and not a bad deal from with a 20% discount. Can't build one for that; I think many will sell. Still some questions about warranty but I think if installed in a 2015 model before delivery, ESP will cover. Apparently the new motor will fit '07 and later touring models but not sure; no warranty on those installs. Owner keeps take out motor; some dealers offering $1500 credit from what I read. 259E cams are advertised but from what I am reading, a new HD SE585 cam may be available.

That motor is capable of much more than the published numbers; the published numbers don't mean much to me. Still looking for the specs on the SE585.

that's an excellent deal with the 20% off -- more competition for the S&S 124 crate motor -- the numbers seem low -- 585 or 575 cam would be ideal

Purchase the motor for 20% off then reinvest that 20% + some more $$$ to get it running as it should. Yeah they'll sell a bunch of them and then make a killing on after- market parts like they usually manage to do.

Those 120's have always been a good starting $$$ deal, but have heard to much about the bottom going out of wack......so get it, then timkin, plug, etc the bottom end. Then you might as well go gear drive. There go the new cams that came w/ the motor, while you are at it massage the heads a bit more since it's apart......

**** makes me wonder how really far $$$$$ from a solid S&S 124 it would end up? I've tossed the idea many times, but I just know that I wouldn't be able to uncrate that 120r or 120st and just slap it in.

Don't get me wrong it's still a heck of a deal.

Is that the same crank that has been in the 120r in years past?

Default Massive Failure on New 120R

If you guys have time, and can recommend a true class motorcycle engine re manufacturers/re builders on the east coast, I would be grateful for a lead. My dealer installed 120R which had a MASSIVE failure with only 100 miles on the bike during a very gentle text book break in. I would like to send it to a top builder, class of the industry type guys who may also have warranties available after they rebuild, re certify, etc.

Damnnman that sucks. My point exactly with the iffy 120's. Clearwater an awesome place used to go up there man times.

Best of luck finding the right spot to get you back and running.
