Actually i started with just the CFR slipons. So the answer is yes.Fwiw i had the monster ovals b4 the CFR's.Sold them.CFR's are deeper and more rumble/throatier.Especially when throttled.

So I'm not sure of what exhaust comes stock on the Sucker Punch 66 Bobber and I haven't bothered to get in touch with SPS but does anybody happen to know off hand what it is? They are not very load to me does anyone have any advice on a good set of pipes "loud" for a 80 evo motor?

I've recently purchased an 09 Softail Custom. I’m agonizing over the decision on what kind of pipes to put on. I like the look of Samson Long Slashers and Ground Pounders but I’ve heard they come out of the box scratched up and turn bronze and blue. Also I've never heard either of those set of pipies. Can I get some feedback on the quaility and a couple of sound clips for those pipes.

Posted this in the Touring section, seemed it needed to be here as well:

Finally decided on the route that I am going to take on my Stage-1. I'm going the route with "approved Harley components" as to be safe with the warranty. First was the SE Nightstick exhaust. I'll then move on to the SE Heavy Breather and the Harley remap.

In any case.... here are the sound clips. Both clips were taken with a Marantz PMD660 audio recorder, used a M-Audio Aries series microphone. Levels stayed the same between recordings, Mic at same hight and distance from motorcycle. There is a slight echo in the recording due to the proximity of the bike and the garage.

2010 FLHX : Stock 2-1 Exhaust : MP3 292K
2010 FLHX : SE Nightstick 2-1 Exhaust : MP3 535K

Here is the setup for the next set of MP3's. Microphone was mounted just above the exhaust approx. 6 to 8 inches above. No changes to how the sound was recorded between the recordings. Levels, processing etc. were done the exact same way.

2010 FLHX : SE Nightstick 2-1 Exhaust : Normal Acceleration : MP3 423K
2010 FLHX : SE Nightstick 2-1 Exhaust : Quick Acceleration : MP3 342K

Thoughts so far after a quick 20 - 30 minute run.
Though I never got on the highway/freeway, the sound of the exhaust at steady throttle almost seems like the stock exhaust. About the only time that I can hear a difference is under any kind of acceleration. Sound under accel. is a bit louder but is a lot deeper in tone. In regards to sound level, I think that I will be happy and that it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Performance... I'll hold off until I get some miles under the bike. The bike has started decel popping though but I do kind of like in it in a weird way. Also, the above two audio clips seem a ton louder than the exhaust actually is, this is because the mic is so close to the exhaust.
