Call the seller and ask him what he thinks.
Does it throw error codes? Try re-seating, maybe even clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner, and re-seat all connections. My bike did a similar thing and it turned out that the seat was squeezing/pushing on a cable which in turn pulled on the main ecm cable. Bike would start, then die after a few seconds.
Also, check battery. Check voltage regulator output.
Get a manual.

Just some things to check: If efi, could have rubbed a hole in the bendable hose inside the tank causing low or no fuel pressure. (even on a low milage bike) If carbed could have pinched the vac line or vac line could have crack in it from tank on/off/reserve causing no fuel flow to carb. If efi or carb, the crank sensor is known to go bad or intermittant with no warning. There are ohm readings to test these but I can't remember the numbers. I think someone listed the good/bad readings on this forum sometime back so a search might help. Like suggested before go thru all connectors and look for moisture and reseat.
Edit due to CRS: When it dies and won't start pull a plug wire and see if it has fire..........no fire then look at electronics/ign. If fire looks decent go after fuel delivery.
