Quick question... How large can you go (displacement) with a TC88 (05' Softie) without any case work? Meaning a typical top end build... heads, cylinders and pistons...
(Note: We have a 12 pack riding on the outcome, which I will GLADLY share if I am victorious... )

Thanks again for the feedback!! Now I just have to figure out how to "divy" up the beer!!
The bet was... Is 100" possible with a simple bolt-on kit with no case boring." My answer was no... but my buddy INSISTED it was possible. My read was that the kit in question was a 95" kit and even with an overbore could not reach 100". My buddy felt 100" WAS possible with larger cylinders that had the "skirts" turned own to fit the stock case bores... Which I felt was a plan for disaster...
On a side note... To sorta hijack my own thread... Would a 95" kit be "THAT" noticable as far as torque and HP for your average sport tourer? What could one expect to see from a carbed 95" engine?
if you do a little head work with the right cams you can make a 95 with over 100/100. My mild build 95 carbed ie andrews 26G's and mild GMR head work is ~96 ft/lbs of torq and 86 hp. mine is a realible touring set up that runs on regular gas and gets good mpg at touring speeds.
you are going to get a lot of diffrent combos.
one of the most reliable and dependable builds is a
9.6 compression
flat top piston
37 cam
heads of your choice.
Baisley Hillside T-man all do their own work and have proven packages over the years time and time again.
reliable dependable and consistant power. all over 100/100 hp/tq. right in the rpm range you ride.
there are others but if you want it done once and done right i highly recomend these guys........

Wiesco manufactures a private label piston/gasket kit for us, that allows the OE cylinder to be brought from 88"-to 98", and from 96"-107". Works VERY well.

Thanks VERY MUCH for all the responses!! I'm am really glad I found this place!
With the reponses here, and data collected from the net, I won the bet and am looking forward to a 12'er of Kokenee to be delivered later on this evening.
The added info on the 95" - 98" top end kits seems to be something I'll need to be adding to my "winter mods" list!! But that, a they say, is another story...
