Ticking getting louder in 09 RKC

everyone says the tcking is normal......I'm calling bravo-Sierra. I used to be able to cruise dwn the road and lean way back and not hear the ticking, now I hear it no matter what I do. The noise comes from the front cylinder only. I am going to take her in for the 5000 mile service and hopefully the dealer does not say it's normal, if he does.I am going to another dealer(s). What really causes this ticking noise that everyone says is normal?

Maybe it's just wanting to go on a road trip! I put in the Syn3 at 5k then went on a 3 day ride. I don't have the ticking. Would it be the valves?

I have used SYN3, Mobil 1 and now Amsoil........I even tossed in some Lucas Oil additive

Get that Synthetic outta there. Run 50wt dino oil in the summer.

The ticking is because of slack in valvetrain. Dino has better cushioning qualities than syn.

What you may be noticing is the effect of Summer heat on these things. First summer for your 09.

My engine is pretty much breathed on but I now run, down here in SE Texas, two qts of amsoil 60 wt and one 20-50 in my 08 Fatboy engine. In the Summertime. And I run a Jagg cooler with thermostate control. And a Beasely #1 spring.
Amsoil Primary Oil.
Redline High Shock Heavy in the transmission.

Amsoil 60 wt poers better cold than many other 20-50.

Always warm things up nice and easy for several miles.

Back to 20-50 in the winter.

While the synthetics certainly protect very well, they do not maintain lifter pump that is needed at full temp. The Moco service manual refers to 50W above 60* and 60W above 80*.
Change out to either one, and while your at it, dump the Syn III out of the chaincase and replace with Red Line MTL, and use Red Line Heavy Shockproof in the gearbox.
You will notice a LARGE difference in your bike, will the correct fluids.

I put HD 20-50 in ngine yesterday, I have Shockproof Heavy in tranny and SYN3 in primary. I had SYN3 in all 3 holes at one time, then went to Royal Purple in tranny and now Shockproof,,,to tell ya the truth,,,,,I feel/hear no difference in tranny

I have run every different one also. No difference in noise.
One thing I did notice is there is no metal particals or even fine, fine stuff.

So I have taken the transmission off my worry list. what ever it sounds like.

but I figure Red Line Heavy shockproof can't hurt.

You're not doing the bike any favors by constantly changing brands of lubricants.
If the bike is still under warranty, I'd stick with HD lubricants.
