Default codes 42 and 56

my buddy has a 99 flhp that the cam bearing went bad. he replaced the bearings and pushrods. since then he has installed a new cam sensor had a recall issue adressed for the evap. he has a code 42 and 56. the 42 is a cam sensor and 56 is a crank sensor. the codes keep coming back which it makes it seem like a hard code . it runs great but the fuel milage has gone down 100 mpg. any body got any ideas what might be going on?
