Default extended warranty paid off

I just had work done on my 04 ultra. The bill would have been $750.They replaced all the tensioners, secondary cam chain, cam base plate,of course gaskets and o rings, roller bearings and the extended warranty paid all but $70.00.Question,if I change the oil in all 3 holes myself which I want to do, does it have any effect on the warranty or do you have to have like 5,000 miles checkup done by some warranty work capable shop and prescribed intervals to keep from voiding it.I have only put 2500 miles on the bike since January because of sucky weather but the bike now has 71,000 miles on it.

You do not have to have the service done at the dealer. Of course, they will tell you that you do, but mention Magnusson-Moss Law and see their expression change. Keep your receipts and document the services you performed. Everything is in the (highly recommended) factory service manual.

That way you know that the service was done by someone that cares about it...you.

Just keep the reciepts for your services.
I also had to have warranty work to the engine, covered under the ESP.
I have done all the services except the 1K.There were no questions asked.

OK, thanks for the information.I have 4 years of warranty left, want to do a 95 inch upgrade, stage 2, and cam set eventually.for the 95 inch they want 2100 dollars, the cam set is 700 plus labor but i would think should for sure be done at the same time you do the topend, especially since my cams already have so many mles on them, plus they are stock and the SE cam set is made to go with the 95 inch setup.I love to get into stuff myself, but will have to pay out the money to them or the warranty will be voided.
