He bought this bike used and did not come with a fob. But he bought a fob and now we need to try to get this working. What do i need to do first to get this security system up and running

It's best you get the manual for your bike.you have to assign your FOB to your bike which is a 7 step process and than code it which is like a 22 step process.than you can set up sensitivity or auto alarm etc.

If all of this has already been done all you do is press the fob and hold and you will get 2 turn signal flashes when armed. To disarm it's 2 quick presses and your turn signals will flash once

Better yet just get a big ol fat chain and lock and call it a good deal

Good luck

Mike

That should work.
You'll know right away if your bike's security system responds.

no, you do not need to go to the dealer. it was already installed, you only got a new fob. look int eh manual and follow the mating process. Mine did not come with both fobs, I had to do the same thing.

Post Key fob assignment [pre-2007 bikes]

For 2007 and newer motorcycles, the FOB assignment is done using the Digital Technician in conjunction with the bar code reader. The key FOB on TSSM motorcycles must be set to operate the alarm system. The following steps must be completed with no pauses between steps greater than 10 seconds. The programming mode will automatically exit after 60 seconds has elapsed without detecting FOB sign-up messages or turn signal switch activity. Two FOBS may be assigned to the TSSM and all successful re-assignments will disable previous FOBs assigned to it. To assign a FOB:

1) Set RUN/STOP switch to STOP. Verify the security lamp on the speedometer is not blinking 9security system is disarmed).

2) Turn IGN key to ON-OFF-ON-OFF- then leave ON.

3) Press LEFT TURN SWITCH two times then release. A CONFIRMATION CODE will flash on the turn signals depending on the region where you live:
1 FLASH: NO SECURITY SYSTEM INSTALLED
2 FLASH: NORTH AMERICAN CONFIG
3 FLASH: NETHERLANDS CONFIG
4 FLASH: EUROPEAN/HDI CONFIG

4) After CONFIGURATION CODE, press RIGHT TURN SWITCH one time and release. Turn signal will flash once to confirm.

5) Press LEFT TURN SWITCH one time and release. Turn signal will flash two times to confirm.

6) Press and hold FOB BUTTON until confirmation of two flashes are displayed byt the turn signals. This may take up to 30 seconds!

7) If you have a second FOB, repeat step #6.

8) FOBS should be set. Turn off IGN SWITCH.
