Default Tuning SERT for better gas mileage?

Is there something simple to tune a SERT for better gas mileage? My '07 Ultra (SEAC and SE exhaust) gets in the 40-45 mpg range on country roads running 45-50 mph. Get on the Interstate doing 75-80mph and my gas mileage drops to 35mpg or less. That is what I experienced this summer on a 7,000 mile trip over 21 days out west. I just uploaded the one canned map for my set up. Bike runs great, but I would like better mpg on the Interstates. I think I just need to change a few of the a/f ratios on the map, but not sure where to start. Any help?

Jim

You need to have the VE tables and the CLB tables dialed in....

Best way to do it is to invest in a QUALITY Dyno Tune session...

A canned map is just a STARTING POINT... for optimum power, performance and economy, you need to get it tweaked in...

Ditto to you Bob.
I want to add something. If you have the time and some extra money, maybe consider porting your stock heads and a slight bump in the cam. you will be surprised at how much better gas mileage you will get with that extra power.

I'm very happy with what I did to mine. Just an example and I wouldn't recommend this as a test for mileage; but this past summer I ran one leg of a trip at 80-89 miles per hour and I still got 42 miles per gallon. Now, I'm running a 6 speed SE transmission too. But when you consider my big fat ultra fair sail that's pretty good.

Bob, I hear you, BUT, is there not something that I could try that may help. I am very happy with the power and performance of my Ultra currently. It is loaded with the canned map #78. I am thinking that if I just lower the CLB table values for both cylinders in the 2000 & 2500 rpm in the 30-60 kPa range that I should see an economy improvement on cruising on the interstates. What do you think about that?

Thanks for any help

Jim

You don't lower the CLB numbers, you raise them to get a fatter, but more responsive Closed Loop area.... That still gets good mileage...

But... The VE's still need to be accurately dialed in to maximize the effect...
