1984 Ironhead 1000cc, had to replace the ignition a short while back because it stopped working/shorted and went ahead and put a new coil in it as well. 2 months after(bike ran like a champ for that period) the new coil has burned/shorted again.
I noticed the coil touches the heads slightly in a couple of spots/corners, thinking about putting spacers to take care of that.
Is that what is burning the coil? heat transfer? could there be another issue that took the ignition first and now the new coil?
