My first HD my first post. Just bought a beautiful 00 HD RKC and I have a service manual on order. I am switching from a Honda VTX 1800 and I think I did okay. The scoot only has 8300 miles but I don't think that it was babied like I will baby her and I am going through everything. Anyhow when I turn on the ignition and wait for the engine light to go out and then start the bike the engine light will come back on and stay illuminated for about 5-7 seconds. Is this normal?
Since I am posting I might as well ask another crazy question. The guy I bought the bike from again was not a maintenance freak and when I picked it up I did about a 150 mile ride (big smile) anyhow I checked the pressure in the air shocks and there was none, could it have hurt them? Also this is how bad it was, the front tire had 10.5# of air and the rear had 24.5.

As for your CEL.. it is a historic code... something happened in the past that was amiss in the ECM system.... It'll clear itself after 50 start-run cycles, or you can get it cleared at your dealer/Indy (If they have the hardware).... Additionally, seeing as it is a Magnetti-Marrelli EFI system, the ECM Calibration could be outdated (Should be a -99A calibration), and if the cal is outdated, that is why it is throwing a code... The ECM thinks that the CMP (Cam Position Sensor DTC 56) is not synchronized... This calibration update must be done at a dealer....
Shock pressure is managed by the rider, so an investment of the shock pump is well worth it, especially if you plan on going from solo riding to 2-up , to loaded bags riding... contrary to what most say, there is not an all out 1 specific shock pressure that will carry you through all your various riding scenarios.....
Tire pressures are a weekly check that will ensure 2 things... 1) You have a quality ride, and 2) longevity of your tires...
Set your front to 40 psi cold, and rear at 40-42 cold... This is slightly higher than the manual recommends, but it will increase the life of your tires and enhance the handling characteristics of the bike....
Lastly, WELCOME ABOARD... Please take a moment and post an intro in the NEW MEMBERS SECTION as your earliest.... and also familiarize yourself with internet forum decorum....

Thank you kind Sir! Is this code something I should take seriously and get cleared or wait 50 starts and should I get an updated calibration immediately?
