Default RE: Cruise Control DTC Chart

okay, update

i check continuity at the cc module across the 2 wires my manual calls out, it is infinity, which it should be in a closed throttle position.
when i twist the throttle, it stays at infinity, this is bad

i checked it at the roll off switch, which seems to have some physical damage, probably from when i laid it down last year
i unpluged the connectors, got the same readings, always open

now, i moved the switch connectors, kinda twisted the whole switch so the 2 sta-kon connectors were pointing down, now i get continuity across those 2 connectors.

so, do i assume the roll off sw/idle cable is NG and replace it?
is there a way i can jump out the connections and get the cc to work so i can be sure it is the cable before replacing it?

like, if i put a temp toggle switch and connect it accross the connectors that go to the roll off sw, i leave temp sw off, then ride the bike, and then flip sw so it has continuity, should the cc work? or does the cc get other data from other places such as the ecm or tach?

i'd like to trouble shoot all of it before i start ordering anything.
it would pizz me off to no end to take the time to replace the cable only to find out something else is bad

Default Cruise Control

Can't you just unplug the roll off switch and use it that way. Read somewhere you can run it that way and not have to replace the cable.
I never use the roll-off anyhow. Hand brake switch here.

Easiest way to check all dropout fucntions of your cruise control.

1. bike off, run/stop to run
2. push set/resume to set and hold.
3 with cruise on/off switch to on, turn on bike
4. cruise indicator light should be green, release set switch, light should turn red.
5. push to resume and release, light should turn green then red
6. push throttle closed and release, light should turn green then red
7. push rear brake pedal and release, light should turn green then red
8. pull front brake lever, light should turn green then red
9. on models with a clutch/neutral starter lockout, pull clutch lever, light should turn green then red

whichever switch does not turn the light green, is your bad one.

if light will not turn green at all and you have followed ALL directions and tried multiple times, your set/resume switch is bad.

If light stays green even after releasing set switch, one of the dropout switches is stuck closed, usually the roll off throttle switch. unplug this and try again.

make sure brake light will not turn on without using brakes (wobbly brake lever, stuck rear brake light switch etc.)

Happy hunting!!

P.S. this is really the easiest way to troubleshoot cruise control!!!!

Default Cruise control inop

I have a 99 Ultra that the cruise control will not set on. The bike is cable driven speedometer. The same time the cruise failed my turn signals quit auto cancelling. From everything I can tell the problem should be my speed sensor. I looked at the manual and it shows it located on the tranny above 4th gear. There is nothing on my bike at this location. I have looked at a 2000 Ultra and that is where it is located. Does anyone have any idea where my sensor is located or if I am on the wrong track.

o6 rk carbed
installed cruise on my rk today but cant get it to do lash cable initalizing. i followed the manual but i must be missing something .got code 112 which is roll off throttle switch
when i physicaly roll the grip up the switch works and the code clears. shouldnt the switch
only activate when you roll the throttle up and not activate when your hand isnt on the grip.

should i be able to uplug or jump the roll off switch. for test purposes. hate to install a roll off switch if that wont solve the problem

Default code 122

Cruise stopped working. Code says 122 which says front or rear brake applied. When I test switches for front and rear brakes by appying them, the brake light comes on and goes off as it shoud. So where to next. Anyone.
