I have wired the fog lights and used the yellow lead for the running lites) but, I did not use the relay, which resulted in blown fuses. I am adding the relay, but I want the lites to go on only if the ignition is on. Can I still use this lead to power the relay, or should I use the instrument lead, etc
My question is....which lead can I use to power the relay, and is there a lot of draw on the circuit?

IIRC , from my BMW days, the relay draws very little. You can power the lights directly from the battery on a separately run fused wire. Tap the relay "trigger"wire into any ignition circuit.
