Many people have done sound comparisons of stock vs upgraded and posted them as demonstrated in the youtube link below. Problem with it is the audio playback through a camera and over the net does it no justice. You gotta hear them for yourself cause the difference is very noticeable. But then sound is a subjective topic anyways?
Just an update as I have a brand new amplifier on order that's being released in about two weeks from now. This is a new UcD Class amplifier and it will be mounted inside the fairing with the new head unit, iPod interface, lower fairing speakers and handlebar controls kit offered from Biketronics. I will post pictures and information in another thread once the installation gets underway.
Very well done! Made me realize I can save some labor doing it myself. One question is the faring, and if it is watertight? I guess I just want to make sure I don't miss anything and then if it is, but not after I tackle the upgrade, I lose my electronics!
First bike with a faring, so still learning about it....

Fairings are not 100% water tight but are still very effective in keeping 99% of the water out with very little getting in or through the fairing as long as the seal is good around the edge. Speakers have no issue with water as most current products have polypropylene woofers or baskets that are titanium, kevlar or aluminum coated where each type offers good water resistance. Heads units are a little different as the aftermarket heads need to be protected from the front with a cover and atop the head unit to stop water from dropping down into it. Biketonics makes a clear plastic insert that pops into the front opening to protect the faecplate from rain / car washes and also have a clear sheet of water resistant mylar plastic that they offer to cover the aftermarket head units. I have had mine in for over a year now and no issues.
You can also go to a marine grade head unit which then offers a protected circuit board that is encapsulated in a plastic sleeve but offers little more than what is explained above. I think Biketronics have the market on this stuff as they have been doing it for years and demonstrate their experience by offering a plathora of products designed specifically for motorcycles. You might want to call them and ask about their waterproof options but don't think you'll have any issues.

Just generally concerned about making sure I get it buttoned back up properly to prevent as much water from entering as possible. I know the seal around the windshield is supposed to stop water, but I'm skeptical of that too. Again, my first faring bike, so just trying to figure all this stuff out!
