Default 39.4 MPG 2009 Dyna FXDL - Whats Your MPG?

The dealer quoted 45 to 50 MPG on my new all stock Lowrider. I went through the first 3 tanks of gas and decided it was time to test things out.

The bike went 144 miles before the low fuel light came on. The owner’s manual says there is approximately .9 gallons left at that point. I was right near a gas station and stopped and added 3.65 gallons of gas. I filled it up the same way both times. That equates to 39.4 MPG. The gauge and low fuel indicator seem to be right on the money.

My quesiton is what is your MPG? Please provide year, model and any modifcations. Thanks!

Ditto - could care less. Way better than my Dodge Hemi, I can tell you that. I'm guessing I'm getting a bit better than you are as I usually fill up after 140 to 150 miles and rarely need more than half a tank out of a 5.1 gallon tank.

I'm not worried about avg mpg, but I do check it. I usually ride about 80% city/20% highway and usually get 35-37 mpg. The best I've ever gotten was 42 mpg and that was with about 70% highway riding.

I usually stop for fuel when the trip odometer is at about 125 miles and it usually takes 3.3 to 3.4 gals. to fill the tank.

My mods are stage1 per my sig line info and have stock gearing. I ride at a moderate to sometimes aggressive pace...I don't baby the bike at all.

On the '03 FXD, fully loaded for a 10 day trip and riding two up with the wife, I average between 42 an 44 MPG. Riding solo on country roads, I only get about 37 MPG. I think the reason for the difference is that I ride slightly more conservatively with the wife on the back.

I usually get 43 in mixed riding…..I’ve seen over 50 on straight interstate riding at the speed limit with no headwind. No complaints here.
