I have both, like them both, Victory is one hell of a bike but not much of dealership support. Not as many aftermarket parts either. The Victory does not have any resale value, that is why I still have it.
I have a buddy who sells victory and he told me dealer and victory support sucks
once you buy it your on your own
that was enough for me, Harley all the way!

Hoping I can get some help with this decision or at least some non dealer opinions. I love the look of the Street Bob. Hands down it's the bike I like the looks of better. I like the ride of the 8 ball but haven't gotten enough time on a street bob. The 8 ball shifts really clunky (loud!) but the rest of the ride is nice. The Street Bob is what a non touring bike should like like as far as I'm concerned. My main concern is the "low tech, over priced, bad service" argument that I keep hearing about Harley. This would be my first Harley so I can't speak from experience about this stuff.
Any knowledge that can be shared would be great. Like I said, I don't have much (any) time riding the street bob (really just sitting and a short low speed parking lot ride).
Thanks.
It sounds like the only thing "holding you back" is not having had a quality test ride to compare. Get a good test ride. If one dealer won't give you one, go to another dealer. They can lead you through a decent 15 minute ride that will let you know what's up.
My dealer was very patient w/ me, I rode the Bob, a Softail Deluxe, a Nightster and a the new Wide Glide. .... I settle on the wide glide, as you can see I wasn't homed in on a particular bike and my dealer gave me enough freedom to try them and find what spoke to what was inside. And the best part is a dealer that will give you some quality time on a bike will probably be better to deal with once you are an owner.
In short get the necessary test drive to drive what you feel best about.

I have an 09 street bob and my buddy has an 08 8-ball. He paid about the same I did. It sounds like a 4-wheeler to me. Has a lot more power though. I've ridden it a few times and I hated it. But it's all in what you're used to. he hated my bike too. As previously said, aftermarket parts suck. And are way more expensive than Harley. You don't have as many options.

I detail Victory's for a dealer in the area. I like the way they look but not the ride or sound. They say there fast. But when I ride any of them back to the dealer it seems there is a lag before the power comes on. My 2004 FXDX with stage1 comes out of the hole like a scalded chicken. I don't care about top end. The fastest from 0 to 60 is all I care about. They do have better brakes then Harley.
I have to say that the Last one I detailed was the Vegas Low. It was the best looking and riding I've done so far. But still no hands ripped off the bars take off from a stop light rush.
Get what ever turns you on. As for parts Victory's cost more then Harley. I know that's hard to believe but Ive seen it. Plus they don't have much to pic from. One of my friends has one he got it used very cheep. I didn't think it rode smoother then a BT but it was smoother then my Sporty. As for quality, I think he was the only one to have problems with his bike this Summer, out of are group, the other 8 are Harleys. I don't care for the looks of the motors but the bikes look nice. My main problem with Victory comes down to just one thing 'THERE NOT A HARLEY. But that's me.

A few of my buddies have Vics and has had lots of electrical issues. They have had some other issues as well. When he had it flat beded down they pretty much gave them the same bs that HD dealers used to give HD owners. That's part of owning a Vic. I've got 10 k on my Street and no probs(knock on wood). So I say go sit on a ton ride a ton. Then make ur choice. O if ur not n a state that u can ride now hold off on the buy until nicer weather. Don't want to waste any warranty months.
