Question Dyna Super Glide Sport

Hi all,

I'm new to bikes in general, so I'm starting my research now to find a Dyna Super Glide Sport, by the looks of it, they're not in production as I don't see any on the Harley Davidson Site. That being said I've started looking at used ones, but I was hoping someone could tell me which years were best if any as I'm sure there were differences much like cars between factory years.

Also what to look for in selecting a used bike... specifics to Dynas or in general mileage, price, etc... anything that would be helpful.

Don't know where you live, but there's lots of garage jewelry around the country, so if your patient and search you'll find a clean low-mile FXDX...cheap.
If I were buying again, I'd look for an '02 carb. It was the last year of the Timikin drive side bearing; important if you want to hop it up a bunch...also the first year of the 150mm rear tire and it's new rear fender...
The '02 EFI isn't as sophisticated as the '06 and later, which is why I'd prefer a carb...when I was "looking" I managed to find a real clean 1 owner FXDXT only 1000 miles away; it was worth the drive to me. I've made a few changes since...

I bought mine for the price of a used sportster. The deals are out there, patience is key. Don't go falling in love with the first bike local to you.

You could add a T-Sport FXDXT to your 'shortlist'. It is essentially a Sport with small fairing and detachable saddlebags, with the same suspension, twin front discs etc.

I found my 05 FXDX on Craigslist, and I see them on Ebay from time to time, mine is carbed but they were available FI. Its personal but I prefer the carb , easier to tune. A carbed TSport would be a nice bike.

Exclamation Dyna

If you buy a Dyna buy a 2006 and up many major changes for the better but as with any Harley year they all have problems that can be fixed.

Regards, Wonka

I agree on the 02 carb, best engine year. Replace the keihen CV with a Mikuni 42MM and you got about the best setup there is. Most FXDX's were flat black all over. You want shiny you ain't going to get it here.

Oh no, I want flat black, I think it looks nice.... although I'm not sure how long the dyna super glide sports were in production, thus I don't know what is the most recent version of that bike
