Angry FLAT TIRE on my FatBob

Tried backing out my Fat Bob out of the garage today and couldnt. Confirmed it was in nuetral, still wont move. WTF. Look at my back tire and SON OF ***** it's flat! Last time I rode it was 3 days ago. Filled it up with air and was able to ride it to my local guy a few miles away. He cant look at it till Monday but said I can tube it or may have to replace it, depending on what he finds. So I'm like how much is a new tire? 2 to 3 hundred bucks he says. SON OF *****

Has anybody replaced their rear tire on a Fat Bob? Just wanna know how much the tire goes for. Is putting a tube in it a good idea? Doesnt sound like something I wanna do but if it's safe I'd rather not spend hundreds of dollars on a new tire just right now. I only have 2500 miles on it.

Tomorrow is Sunday and it's going to be really nice out and my bike is in the shop with an F'ing flat. MOTHER ****** am I pissed. Thanks for reading my rant.

Personally...I'd get the tire if you can anyway afford it. I think a tube would be okay if you were any real distance from home, but honestly, your best bet is to replace the tire.

I feel your pain.. I have had my 07 Street Bob since Sept and have had 2 new rear tires on it so far. Both times had to replace the tire and tube ( spoked wheels ) if I remember correctly it was right around 300.00 both times. Only got 2 wheels better safe than sorry I guess. The replacements were stock HD dunlop tires.

Later,
Joe

Default Only 1 solution

Hi Lucy,

Shit happens all the time & if something has wheels or tits it will give you problems, ain't that right?

I know it's really terrible to discover that the back tire is FLAT. Getting angry for a while is o.k. Nobody would smile, would you? I'm crying right now, just like you do (maybe?) But there is only 1 real solution: just replace the ****ing tire and get over it. Then you can really enjoy your FAT BOB again. Many many people dream about your bike, but you own one... I ordered a MY 2010 FAT BOB black denim, delivery March 2010....

Have a nice day & I wish you many safe miles on your FAT BOB. Also watch the FAT BOB ride-out movies in the Netherlands (42 FAT BOBs ride-out!) at www.fat-bob.webs.com (join the FAT BOB BIKERS as a member if you like, just DO IT) and www.fat-bob.de (about 980 FAT BOB owners in Germany!!!!!).

If I would live nearby your place I would give you a big HUG and after that you would be able to SMILE again.

greetings from FATBOBlover (Piet)

A few months back I bought a new dunlop same size from Dennis kirk around $140 and installation was a breeze.
Can't get any cheaper than doing it yourself.

A tube will work fine. My 08 street bob had a nail. It has tubes anyway, which is what all bikes had long ago. I had them patch the nail hole from inside the tire also. It rides fine. Less risk with rear than the front any way.

Sorry to hear that Lucy. Word is the longest lasting tire with acceptable road grip is the FB oem tire until someone invents one specifically for us,and sells it cheap i guess. I'm on my second set with almost 19,000 miles on mine and let me just say the thread on the center or the rear is down to the warning bars. And it looks like the front tire (second one now) is cupping just like the first, and I have been checking my pressure regularly.I changed my first set at exactly 10000 miles. A tube will likely do just fine if the tire is relatively new only. otherwise you should probably just bite the bullet Hun.
Keep in mind that you could save money on other tires, and get much better grip from lots of other tires that fit, but with bikes it's a trade-off grip vs. mileage. Metz's and avons will usually get you way better road grip, for significantly less mileage. IE Oem 10,000 miles- Metzler maybe 5500 to 6500,from what I have read right here on this very forum. + that's what they tell me at my H-dealer too!
Flat tires SUCK-Arse!

Be thankful you found the flat at home and not on the road.
