If the puncture is in the tire wall or near where the tire wall joins the tread, "plugging" is a risky repair at best. This is where the tire flexes the most. You don't want to plug the "flex" part of the tire. This is true in automobile tires also, but way more important on motorcycle tires.

Perhaps we should start a thread to survey how many bikers have experienced tire failiure due to plugging a tire leak. This is the first time I have "plugged" and no failure yet.

I plugged my last tire. Damn thing only lasted another 8500 miles....
At about 6000 miles the original plug began to leak so i stuck another in with it and finished the tire off.

I typically ride 75-85 mph every time i am on the hiway. I never worry about it.

I'll make the same offer here that I do in any post about plugging a tire. If the tire has life in it and you are changing it because you don't trust the plug... Send it to me and I will pay the shipping. After I use it up, I will make a post on here to report how it held up.

Put my order in for my 2010 Fat Bob on Sunday October 4th with the Navy Auto Source rep out here on the ship. Got a 5 yr Unlimited Mileage Extended Service plan with Tire & WHeet Coverage for $1289. Just the Tire and Wheel was roughly $400.

Have used them on my Cars and Trucks for years. MORE than worth the price you pay up front.
