Newer Dyna Fuel Tanks

Do all Dynas in the current lineup share the same fuel tank? Can't find part numbers on the website so I cannot cross-reference. I want to take the instrument console off the new 2010 WG and put it on an '08 FXDF. Harley lists those two models as having different fuel capacities, but darn they sure look the same. I'd ask my local parts guy...but he's a complete moron.

Bolt it up and try it.I think the FXD has the only odd ball tank.

3 different tanks on the Dynas from 06 to 2010

1) Fxd, 06 FXDC, and the 07 FXDSE

2) FXDF, 07 up FXDC, 08 and older FXDWG, 06 FXDI35, 09/10 FXDFSE

3) FXDB, FXDL, 2010 FXDWG and 08 FXDSE

So no the dash won't work on your tank plus the new WG has a 4 inch speedo and you have a 5 inch speedo.

All the tanks will bolt up to different Dynas no problem but the dashes will not mix between tanks.

I asked the same question to a few of the guys at the Tucson Harley shop. They said, "Sure, the 09s all have the same tank minus what's actually put on the tank...if you put, say, a fat bob tank on a super glide, you'll wish you didnt because of the way the instruments are all set up."

Not being good at deduction, I asked, "so what you're saying is... if you're replacing a Street Bob tank...best just get a Street Bob tank."

"exactly."

But...they'll bolt on fine, I understand no matter what Dyna gas tank you want.

For 2010:

Super Glide, Street Bob, and Wide Glide have the same tank.

Super Glide Custom and Fat Bob have the same "Fat Bob" tank.*

Bottom line: to put a 10 WG tank on an 09 Fat Bob you'll need all the related hardware, not just the tank.

*Most people don't realize the "Fat Bob" 5 gal tank was around before there was a Dyna Fat Bob model.

The dynas have used 3 tanks since 2004...

Tank 1 = ‘04+ FXD, ‘04+ FXDX, ‘04-‘06 FXDC, ‘07 FXDSE
Tank 2 = ‘04+ FXDB, ‘06+ FXDL, ‘08 FXDSE
Tank 3 = ‘04+ FXDWG, ‘06 FXDI35, ‘07+ FXDC, ‘08+ FXDF


The three different tanks on the Dynas from 2006 to 2010...

Tank 1 = FXD, ’06 (and older) FXDC, ‘07 FXDSE
Tank 2 = FXDB, FXDL, ’08 FXDSE, ‘10 FXDWG

Will my 2006 Street Bob speedo fit a 2010 Wide Glide Console and also fit my tank ? Both are 4.7 ..

Hey Gary,

Never seen the 2010's yet however the 2009 "basic" Super Glide's and the Customs had different tanks. The "basic's" FXDi still have the tank with no instruments?? I check the HD website and it appears this is still the case?
