Default remap ecu?

I've add SE II slip ons and a KN air filter. While I'm sure I'll add more to the bike, the motor is just fine as it is. Now I suppose I should remap the ECU. Every now and then I'll get some minor popping when I let off the gas but nothing bad. The plugs do seem to be running vary lean. Is it better to go to the dealer and get a Stage 1 remap done or go with an add on like PC III?

The PCIII or similar route is by far the best bet!

Remapping the ECU is not necessary, it will adjust, don't waste your $$. If you want better performance or less heat go with something else, lots of choices.

i was wondering the same thing. I have a SE slipons and heavy breather coming in. Dealer is telling me 200 for a download. I think I would rather just get the PCV from fuelmoto and pay a little more for the flexability.

The performance is fine with the stock motor. I just don't want to cause any damage by running to lean, but I also don't want to spend $200 and get on the bike and say.......ummmm, it don't feel any different.

In closed loop the ECU will adjust to the correct AF ratio, same lean AF as when you drove it off the dealer's lot (the O2 sensor tells the ECU the current AF and the ECU adjust fuel delivery accordingly). Closed loop is ~ 1 to 60% throttle (most of your ride). The bike will run a little leaner than stock in open loop (e.g. WOT), but the mods listed should not make the bike run dangerously lean. You can check your plugs now and again to be sure.

IMHO, use the $150-$200 towards something like the V&H fuel pack, PCV, or TTS. If you think you may be upgrading the bike again and are handy around a laptop, the TTS is probably the best way to go. There are other choices, each with pluses and minuses.

Adding a pcV will get you a slightly better throttle response, AND undo the chain to the dealer. They're very easy to update and plenty of tuners know their way around a power commander, if you do something major down the road that requires a dyno-tune.

You can also get the auto-tune module which is just that. It will tune itself. Haven't heard anyone not have a bad experience with TTS or pcV w/autotune.

Although, think about this. The less we buy at the dealer, the higher the prices will go on services, etc to compensate or they will eventually close them. No place to buy bikes. Interesting catch 22, isn't it?
