I paid 210 in Raleigh NC. Money well spent for the first service on a new bike to be sure everything is ok. I will do the oil changes myself from now on. Better safe than sorry.

First service free for me. Had a 15k without oil, $160.00. But the catch, new air filter, plugs and a collapsed motor mount. $315 now. They will get you one way or another.

1000 mile service for $235 (or $270 with synthetic) at the local stealer. Good or bad price? I live in the Kansas City area. What does it cost to do it myself? I am a pretty good with a wrench, but don't have a lift. Can it be done without one? Does it void my warranty? Any advice or insight is appreciated.
That is what I paid on my Ultra at Blue Springs HD. Central was about the same but had a longer wait to get in.
I have had my Sporty for 8 years. I had the dealer do the first service and I bought the service manual and I have done all fluid changes since. I am doing the same on my Ultra Glide. I had the dealer do the first one, but I'll be doing the rest.
I think many people on here will tell you they paid much more than that for their first service.
That's what I paid for my Dyna's service. I just would rather HD do the services so there are no issues down the road if something breaks. For me the money and time is well spent.
Same here, I think mine was actually a tad more. Grrr.

You really need to look at the business side. Sure, you can do it for a lot less.
Besides the cost of the oil, filters, O-rings, etc..., the dealer must pay the mechanic, pay for his benfits (ie SS etc), pay hazmat disposal fees, pay building rent, pay utilities, pay for liability insurance, loan int, etc.... All those plus more burden the cost. Then the dealership needs to cut a profit also. If they dont make a profit, they won't be there when you need your next part/bike/service etc...
Again, you can do it yourself cheaper. Dont forget the drive belt tension and adjustment too.
I bet at least $150 of that $230 is business costs producing a gross margin of 35%.
Try starting your own business someday to understand the whole picture!
It doesn't void any warranty, keep records though.
Although my first service was free as a condition of sale, the bill showed the charges of $280.07. Heck, I even got to clean off the anti sieze from my handlegrips and wipe off the oil the service technician left on my undercarriage for free. I guess he didn't notice the small puddle of oil on the service center floor ? I sure did when I picked up my bike. I think he liked my bike because for the test ride he put on almost 40 miles and forgot to clean off the bugs that got splattered all over my frame and headlights as well.
I understand the other postings about how the dealer has to pay their service techs and insurance and pay for the building.. but come on almost $300 for a fluid change and a quick once-over ? Plus as a bonus, I get to clean off left over oil, bugs and anti-sieze.
I didn't complain because I get the same thing with my SUV when I take it in for the free 24 month oil and filter changes...Oil dribbled all over the plastic engine cover... goop on my steering wheel. Maybe one of these days I'll be in a crappy mood and call the service tech out to clean the crap up off on my bike or SUV.. but for now I expect it and just clean it up when I get home.. wadda ya want for free ?

I see this post all the time here, and never say anything, but didn't most of us pay $13,000 + for our bikes? why is it we never want to pay for the first service, expecially considering some are worried about voiding the warranty? I have rebuilt a car from the frame up, and do all the fluid changes on my truck (paid for) myself, but the 1K on my FXDB (not paid for & under warranty). I paid.
