The injector recall was for 06's injectors. Does the battery have a good charge on it? Is it getting a charge from the stator? Running some seafoam cleaner thru it is a good idea. Just to the side of the oil filter is the crank position sensor, follow the wire down to the plug and see if that plug is tight. Check the plug gap, .040".

A little update:
I changed plugs and dumped some Seafoam in the tank. I have about 150 miles on it since and it seems to be a little better but for sure not 100% right.
I picked up some intake gaskets yesterday and was going to do that today when I noticed both of the breather hoses coming out of the breather are rotted and one was off the throttle body because it rotted and broke off.

Ya think this could be a culprit?

I see what's left of the hoses appear to be a formed hose. I'm just going to run to the parts store and get some flexible tube and go that route and see if it helps before I try replacing the intake gaskets

2 different tanks of gas from different stations and always run premium.

I was thinking filter maybe. The Clymer manual I have sucks as far as any fuel injection info goes. Where might the filter be?

Mine started like that too. Only noticed it at low speeds
filter is part of the fuel pump - it's in the tank - i thought it was a 10K mile check item - not sure

I just had two connectors going bad making bike run terrible. One was on rear injector. Symptons started out minor sputtering to major sputtering and engine light on within 3 days. 9,000 miles on bike.

Went to the store last night, got the hose and replaced it. It was storming like mad so I didn't get to ride. I just woke up and it's already 93 outside. Not in a big rush to start sweating...

Here's a thought. I was using the search function and I came up with a LOT of threads about the valve guide seals being bad on the 05' and early 06' models. If the intake seals are either bad or going - could that be the problem you're having???
