Default Dyna FXDX or Sportster

I own an 06 883 standard, bike is paid for, I have added Mustang seat, highway pegs, progressive 412's, detachable sissy bar and detachable windshield. I enjoy my ride but I feel the need for more power. I can do a 1200 conversion for about $600, or I can buy a 2005 FXDX with 6400mi for $7500. The FXDX is in good condition but needs cleaned up, it runs good but has not had a stage 1 done, bike is just about bone stock, 2 up seat and a sissy bar.

I think that $7500 is a reasonable price and I like the tripple disc brakes and adjustable suspension.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has gone Sportster to Dyna? I'm thinking the Dyna Sport would be a fun bike to have.

A ton of people have gone sportster to Dyna on here. Especially with the trade-in program Harley was running.

Not one person that I have heard, has regretted it.

I think the FXDX would be good. It has been described as the best handling Dyna ever, new model years included.

My dad had a 883 with the 1200 upgraded and traded it in for a Dyna, he has never regretted it.

Of course you're asking on a Dyna thread, so the opinions may be a bit biased...

That said, I went from an 883 to a FXDC a couple months ago, and I am 100% glad I did. Like you, mine was paid for (an '07), so that was tough, going back in the hole a little. But, totally worth it. It is SO nice to have the extra power, esp. on the highway of course, but it's nice around town too. Handles great, no big deal going up, and it just feels like so much more bike.

Good luck. I say go for it for sure.

A few years ago I went from a 100hp '01 Sporty to an FXDXT; I looked long and hard for an FXDX/T because of the potential for a better handling bike with a bigger engine. Have since tried a couple of FLH's; they're not for me...FXDXT has been changed a bit, but nicest HD I've been on.

Thanks for all the input, I'm going to go for it,I think $7500 is a decent price even though I want to change the stock pipes, new ac and I will be painting it.

Be sure to show us some pics. man . I think these bikes were the Street Bobs of the 90s(when they first came out), but with a slightly better handling chassis.

Check this out....
