Mine started grinding away down in Newport OR Had to ride it down to Coos Bay OR where i had an inlaw living. 14416 miles. Stayed with him And he ran me back and forth to harley, they could not fix it for a week so i tore it down took them the inner primary and they pressed the old bearing out and the new one in. I also had to rent the tool from them to pull and press the race, put it back together retorked and got her going. Finished my trip down to Santa Rosa and back. I payed for all parts and I took note that they had to have my vin number in order for Coos bay to print an invoice for the labor for pressing bearing . Now Coos Bay service and when i returned home the Tacoma service knew nothing about this issue.??? I also fixed the stater rotor issue on my dime before it became a issue!

Hwy 101 Harley is Coos Bay (Oregon) is great and they KNOW about the problem. My buddy just picked up his bike today after having the bearing replaced.
So for those who do not know, here is the scoop. The 06 Dyna's have a knows issue. The bearing will go out, usually at about 15,000 miles. Sometimes sooner and sometimes later, but it will go out.
The dealers have been instructed by the moco to replace these at no charge to the customer for the life of the bike and as often as every 15,000 miles.

First fail, you get a new bearing & race. Second fail, HD SHOULD replace the IPCase and tranny case with the '07 parts (that have alignment dowels). Just had mine done (2nd failure, 12,500-miles) in May, and I got the "full Monty" fix this time.

Coos bay charged me $ 56.50 to press my bearing in and out on 6/20/09 and i was told they knew nothing of the bearing trouble on the 06 buy the Owner KP and by service MGR BJM. I had picked up a bearing and seal from North West harley and had that with me. I should call up Brad At Coos Bay.
My IPB was toast at 4400 miles. H-D wouldn't cover a penny since I was out of warranty. Put a Drag Specialties bearing in and OK so far even though I only have 5900 miles on it.
My 06 Dyna failed whilst we were supposed to be on the trip of a life time in France just two weeks ago.
Out of warranty and had to get it fixed there and then through some difficult translation. £200 odd later we were back on the road, but most of our holiday cash gone. Arriving back in England the noise has come back. Dealer wants it in for two days, I have written to Harley UK about this issue and have heard nothing. I waited 40 odd years to own a Harley (since I was ten) and finally got my Street Bob in May 2006.
Nothing but trouble and heart ache since. You name it, I have had trouble with it.
Plus if my Honda riding neigbour tells me one more time that I should have bought a Pan European I think I will have to bury him.
Mind you I am begining to think he may have a point.
So here I am, its pouring with rain (as usual) no bike, as dealer cannot take it in until the 28th. sitting here pouring my heart out to you guys. Well I hope you all feel very sorry for me. Because I do.
