I got the second letter stating my bike did not need it either , well 2 months down the road IT DID NEED IT , dealer fixed for free....

Mud asked about the allignment dowels, i plan on asking the dealer to see the new parts and the old parts to see the difference and what has changed.

They are putting the '07 and up cases on my trans to fix the problem so i assume the '07 and up bikes dont have this problem. I'll let you guys know if my primary bearing fails again or if i have the same problems with my wifes '07 super glide.

Something i haven't checked into yet. My friend has a '08 super glide thats got around 14,000 miles and he told me it's making noises in the primary but i haven't heard his bike since he talked about it. But his bike is wayyyy over due for an oil change like probably 7,000 since the last service, and he bought it and after looking it over it was laid down in the primary side. Which not only did the tank with no badges and the newer outter primary give that away, but, new clutch lever and a little scrape on the fork tube is a sure sign. He paid for that bike what a new one would have cost, but his credit sucks, so he was lucky to get anything at all.

Adrian... I noticed that you keep asking this question...

Cmon over and listen to mine. It is a whirling noise when the bike is idling in neutral.

They replaced my IPB Saturday and I still have the noise. This coming Saturday thay are replacing ALL the bearings including the one(s) in the tranny.
My bike has 10K on it. It has had 5 fluid changes too! 1, 2.5K, 5, 7.5K and 10K.

Im sooooo pissed.

Sorry to rain on everybody's parade, but mine went at 1250 miles on an '09. Race and bearing were bad. Started with an increased vibration at 2100-2300 rpm's. Noise that went away when the clutch was pulled in.

I spoke to the dealer which is 40 miles away and they said i will have to leave it there because the manufacturer requires them to do tests and check things over. I'm just worried i'm going to take it there and they will tear into it and not cover and try to charge me. I do have the knowledge and means to replace the bearing myself but don't feel i should have to pay for it, and i want the problem thats causing it to fail to be corrected. I think it's BS that i'll be looking forward to changing my primary bearing every oil change as long as i own the bike.
Anybody had it replaced a second time out of warranty???? and have the problem solved????
Tell then "No repairs without prior approval" and put it in writing on the shop ticket.

Yeah, unfortunately, 2006 was a transitional year, and seem to be more prone to problems....

I feel for ya.

The 2006's are a problem year, and for the most part, the Moco seems to have the problem straightened out with them by changing out the cases.

That doesnt mean the problem has gone away on the newer bikes. I had mine replaced at 26k on the 08. Also had the automatic tensioner torn to shreads. Couldnt get a straight answer out of the dealer if they were related, and forgot to ask if the tensioner had run up on the end of the cam.

I had a Torrington bearing put in mine when I replaced the inner primary with a new chrome one. That was about 3500 miles ago...so far so good.
