Not if you can't get the pins loose without breaking the connector... besides, cut/splice/wrap works well & has never failed me. Lots of cutting/splicing/wrapping to install the Low Rider console & tach. I'm an experienced jury rigger.

I'm getting my tank repaired/painted in the next week or two and really appreciate the timing of this excellent write up. I really hadn't even thought of any difficulties with tank removal....DOH!

x2 on removing my tank to have it painted and this is a exactly what I needed as the service manual only goes so far and your pics are terrific. Thanks.

I'm glad it has been useful.

I made this last month and it had gotten buried...too bad it doesn't become a sticky as I think the pics came out nice and clear.

The tank is just something you may never have to tear into that often so when I had the opportunity I figured why not...it was actually my second opportunity and I don't plan on a change anytime soon.

Many years ago I had to take a technical writing class, you sir, are ahead of the class. The detail that went into this was well thought out and supporting photos are perfect. I do not have this model but I could work on it with confidence given here....thanks
