A buddy of mine who is a master mech said that the reason cars are getting 200-300 thousand miles on engines is because of F.I. There is never a rich condition when you are running down the street or at start-ups ,which causes less oil on your bore and increases wear.

Not only does it help slow wear in the bores it does it in the bottom end as well. When the cylinders get washed down by a rich mixture the fuel contaminates the oil. With out the over rich conditions the contamination is minimized.
