Took my 2006 Dyna Low Rider in at 13,900 to get the inner primary bearing replaced for the second time.
Dealer is telling me that they will be also replacing the transmission cases as it is an alignment issue with the cases that is causing the bearing to wear out.
No information as far as a bulletin but wanted to get this out there.

Thanks for sharing. \\; I'm at 10k miles on my 06 with no noise yet, but I'm curious to see what the dealer says if I make it safely to 15k since that was originally the \\;factory service \\;interval for the inner primary bearing.
Those of you that have had yours replaced, is HD footing the bill or are you having to pay out of pocket?

Some questions spring to mind:
 \\;
1) Is it just some cases that are faulty through production or is there a design flaw causing misallignment on all bikes?
 \\;
2) Are the 06 and 07 cases the same and therefore are 07's just as likely to be affected - alternatively if the problem was a manufacturing one, was it sorted for 07 bikes.
 \\;
3) Why then the change in part numbers for 08 cases? Was a basic design fault only corrected on the the 08's
 \\;
4) An finally and perhaps most importantly: Redbeard, when your case is changed it would be really helpful to know what part number they replace it with. Same as 06 / 07 cases or the 08 (including new input shafy and IPB inner race). If its the 08 parts I think we have answer - basic design errot. If its the 06/7 parts - its been a \\;manufacturing quality issue.
 \\;
Please report back when you know Redbeard and see if you can get more background from the dealer.
 \\;
Accurate information on \\;this issue is hard to come by!

Sorry - meant evanssf for reporting back!
I think you misunderstood my post. \\;\\\\\\; I have not had a problem with mine so there is no impending discussion with the service manager (hopefully). But I am cautious since my bike is an early 06 model and I am approaching the mileage that others have had problems at.
It should be noted that plenty of 06s have had no trouble at all, but since there was a technical bulletin about this issue when they first came out, I wonder how HD handles those that do have a problem.
